We can recommend a specialty lens when you come in for an exam and fitting. The 2 most common specialty lenses we prescribe include rigid gas-permeable and scleral lenses.
Rigid Gas-Permeable Lenses
Rigid gas-permeable (RGP) lenses are a popular choice because of their ease of use, durability, and crisp visual quality. They’re made of special plastic materials that allow oxygen to pass through and reach your cornea.
Scleral Lenses
Scleral lenses are becoming popular for addressing various eye conditions, most notably keratoconus and dry eye.
These lenses have a larger diameter than traditional contacts, which allows them to rest on the sclera (white part) of your eyes and vault over your cornea. A tear reservoir forms between your cornea and the lens, which can provide relief from corneal issues and dry eye.

I cannot express in words the efficacy and professionalism of Dr. Pham however, I will try. I have a serious eye condition: keratoconus and a very extreme case at that. Unfortunately, eyeglasses are not an option for me therefore contacts are my only means for sight. I’ve always lived with mediocre contact fitting and lens prescription. For the first time in years I was able to see 20/20 because of Dr. Pham’s mastery of her craft. Dr Pham is really amazing!! She is extremely knowledgable and took the time to explain in detail how the eyes/lids work and what was going on with my inflamed eyelids including detail pictures of my eyes. Then we discussed my treatment plan, insurance and timetable. I will be going to her to get my inflamed chronic dry eyes and blepharitis under control. Because this is a lifelong chronic issue, I will continue to see Dr. Pham from time to time for my eye maintenance.
I ask her to clean my eyelids while I was there and WOW instant relief! Then she showed me the before and after pictures, the gunk was gone!
I have been to other Dr’s over the years and nobody even comes close to her caliber in what she does. What a relief!
